Review of The Coaching Habit
A fantastic easy read on coaching mindset, well written + researched with practical tips. I wish it covered more on helping people execute towards their goals. Rating: A.
The Coaching Habit is a great book on coaching people. It aggregates a lot of other good ideas and reduces them to 7 questions. This simplification still covers a wide variety of aspects of helping people grow. If you’re only going to read 1 book on how to conduct a 1:1, this book is a good one.
I wish the book also covered the execution aspect of coachinge.g. helping someone break down a larger goal into smaller parts. See the Manager Tools Coaching Model.
, but it is nevertheless a fantastic and practical distillation of the coaching mindset.
I found the format (e.g. the “habit” parts) of the book a bit silly, but not enough to take away from the core content of the book. And maybe it made the content stick more.
