Discussion Map

These instructions help you create a “discussion map”⊕ (Pink n.d., lesson 5)

that can help find influential people in a room.

Draw a circle for everyone in the room.
Every time someone speaks, put an “x” next to their circle and draw an arrow towards the person they were addressing.

In this group of 4 people, we can see that Prerna has said something to Tomas by the “x” next to her circle and the arrow going from her circle to the circle for Tomas.

You’ll get a picture that looks like this:

In this group of 4 people, we see some interesting patterns. Prerna has talked the most, but nobody has addressed her; in contrast, Tomas has talked the least but has had the most people address him
